Organization Description

clientreading Women's Recovery Center (WRC), an affiliate of Greene Health Partners, is a regional residential and outpatient treatment facility based on the belief that chronically addicted, multiple-need women can recover if proper support is provided. The Center follows a comprehensive, holistic treatment protocol, offering a wide variety of services to help women achieve and maintain sobriety. Participation in regional and national networks is pursued to insure an adequate continuum of care for clients. All of the services are focused on helping addicted women create a solid foundation of recovery from which to build a drug-free lifestyle and secure their successful integration into society. The final result is women, seen previously as a hopeless drain on society, achieving sobriety and gaining the skills, knowledge and responsibility to contribute to the well-being of their families and communities. WRC is certified to provide services by Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Funding

Women's Recovery Center's primary funding sources are:

  • Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS).
  • Mental Health and Recovery Board of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties.
  • Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board.
  • Mental Health Recovery Services of Warren & Clinton Counties.

WRC also has grants from other boards within our service area. Additional funding is received through the Ohio Housing Trust Fund as well as donations from individual, corporate and foundations throughout the Miami Valley.

History

Women's Recovery Center opened it's doors in 1987. Since that time, WRC has expanded four times from 8 beds to 16 beds and then to 26 beds in our residential center. In 2001, WRC opened it's Pregnancy and Family Housing Program to make treatment available to pregnant women and women with small children. In the Pregnancy Program, the expectant mother is in a safe & sober environment where the baby is born alcohol, tobacco and drug free. All prenatal & postpartum needs are filled. The Family Housing Program admits women with children. Here the relationship between mother and child can be supported and nurtured as the mother receives treatment.mother & baby

Thanks to the Family Housing Program, a mother does not have to choose between her children and her recovery. Childcare services are provide on-site. Also in 2001, Transitional Housing was established to offer WRC graduates a step-down program which gradually reduces the level of structured treatment while increasing productive community involvement.

A very important change occurred on March 3, 2003 when Women's Recovery Center became a tobacco-free facility. WRC treats nicotine dependency as it does other deadly drugs of abuse.

What began as a grass roots movement to provide services for women seeking recovery, has evolved into a facility with a reputation for providing comprehensive, high quality, clinically appropriate treatment for women and their very special needs.
